Junior Azkals bowed out of Asian Cup in Oman with 1-2 record
DAVAO CITY---The Philippine Azkals U-20 team has failed to advance to the playoffs after they managed only to win one game in their three-game matches in the AFC U20 Asian Cup at the Al Saadah Sports Complex in Oman.

The junior Azkals suffered a 3-nil shutout against Group G winner Oman and a 3-2 close shave against Thailand.

On Sunday, the Azkals ended their campaign with a win by beating Afghanistan 1-0.

Midfielder Kamil Jaser Amirul broke the scoreless tie in the 83rd minute with a shot that resonated well for the squad and changed the standings.

The victory placed the Philippines third in the division. Even if it wasn't enough to move on, the young team learned a lot. Afghanistan came in fourth place.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
