Anthony Elorde, a student of Southpoint School, played well in MFC's latest championship in the queen city of the south.
MFC went undefeated in the tournament, participated in by some of the top youth football clubs in the Philippines.
The team also got much-needed help from Cebu Elite Sheba FC, who brought seven 2008/2009 born players to the team.
Aside from Elorde, the team owned by John Zantino and coached by Sheba Castañares also has Duke Punzalan, Midfield ( La Salle Green Hills), Icko Sunico, Keeper (La Salle Green Hills), Andrei Hipolito, Left Back (La Salle Green Hills), Alphan Lomibao, Left Wing (Philippine Science), Manu Simpao, Mid Field (Ateneo De Manila University)
Josh Moleje (University of St. La Salle Bacolod), Zavier Abehs Castañares, Sambher Nash Abrenica, Lleyton John Soon, John James Santos, and Mark Nathan Tabon.
The team beat Cebu United FC (Cebu City) 6-5 via penalties to win the coveted crown.
The goal scorers for the final team are Punzalan (1st kicker), Abrenica, Moleje, Lomibao, Hipolito, and Elorde (last kicker).
Sunico won the most valuable player award for his brilliance all tournament long.
The same team also brought glory to the Philippines after beating the bigger St. George Australia team 2-1 in the 2022 Malaysia Borneo Football Cup finals in Sabah, Malaysia, at around 2 p.m. on October 4.
The team went undefeated in the tournament in five games, including the finals.
The team got a champion trophy as a prize, as well as individual trophies, certificates, jerseys, and soccer balls for the players. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
