DAVAO CITY –Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League 2020 champion Davao Occidental Tigers won its second national basketball title with a 76-62 win over Mindanaoan rival Cagayan de Oro Higalas in game 2 of their 2022 Pilipinas Super League Pearl of the Orient Cup championship showdown at the University of Southeastern Philippines(USEP) Gymnasium and Cultural Center Obrero, Davao City, on April 25 at 7pm.
Cebuano shooter Eman Calo was declared as finals MVP after he took charge of scoring for the team in their lopsided win.
With their game 2 wins, the Tigers won their best of three championship showdown against the Higalas 2-1.
The Tigers earlier beat the Higalas in game 1 95-59 at the President Manuel A Roxas Sports Complex in Zamboanga del Norte on April 22.
Calo shone brightly for the team in their game 1 win with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Aside from the trophy, the Tigers won a P2 million cash prize.
The Higalas, for their part, settled for a runner-up trophy and P1 million cash. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
