Mindanao chess veterans  to face Manila counterpart in Goodwill Charity Match for Odette Victims
DAVAO CITY---Some of the top names in the sport of chess in Mindanao are joining forces in a goodwill charity chess match against veteran chessers from Metro Manila on December 28 from 8 pm to 10 pm.

The one-of-a-kind match-up dubbed as the 5th Metrolirot Cup was organized to collect money that will be donated to the victims of the deadly typhoon Odette in Mindanao.

Among the top Mindanao chess players joining the goodwill match are Surigao Fianchetto Checkmates owner Rey C. Urbiztondo, Atty. Jong Guevarra Jr., Engr. Allan Diez, Davaoeno National Master Jonathan Tan, and Philippine paralympic chess coach NM James Infiesto.

The charity chess for a cause match was organized by lawyer Jong and friends and the Oracle Chess team. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
