DAVAO CITY---Davaoeno paralympic swimming star Ernie Gawilan added another silver to his medal haul in the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Solo, Indonesia, on August 2.

Gawilan won the silver in the men's 100M backstroke S7 event.

The silver is the second medal for Gawilan, who earlier won a gold medal in the 400m Freestyle S7 event at the start of the swimming competition of the biggest sporting event for persons with disabilities in Southeast Asia last August 1.

Gawilan, born with no legs and an incomplete arm due to an attempted abortion and poor pre-natal healthcare is happy and proud of his gold medal performance.

The win is a huge morale boost for Gawilan, who failed to win a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games last year in Tokyo, Japan.

Aside from Gawilan, Davaoeno Billy Cartera also won a bronze medal in the table tennis men’s team Class 4 with Racleo Martinez and Darwin Salvacion. (Romeo Braceros, Jr.)
