Veteran Davaoeno ultra-marathon runners rule BBG 45K ultramarathon race
DAVAO CITY---Two veteran marathon runners from Region 11 were the big winners in the Basta Bisaya Gahi (BBG) 45 kilometers Ultramarathon 2022 Davao race that begins at People's Park and finishes at Wines Elementary School in Baguio District, Davao City, on March 27.

Arnie Macañeras, a resident here, won the male category with a time of three hours, 36 minutes, and 10 seconds.

The second place went to Arcie Paran (4:04:25), and the third place went to Niko Tongkalang 4:10:10.

Tagum City's Julie Anne Morales won the women's category with a time of five hours, 22 minutes, and 39 seconds.

The second place went to  Alma Labial (5:44:02), and the third place went to Aiko Lim (5:45:39).

A total of 54 runners joined the race earlier, organized by BBG organizer Roel Amabao-Ano.

All the winners received trophies and merchandise items as prizes.

Morales, a member of Team Brad, is on a winning roll.

Last February 20, Morales won one of the 4 Peaks Mountain Ultra Marathon categories in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.

She won the 42 kilometers female category with a time of 9:19.

Morales won a trophy in the tournament by some of the top trail runners in Mindanao.

Morales said he was happy with her win in a Facebook post and thanked her team for her victory.

"Salamaaat BRADers!," Morales said.

Aside from trail running, Morales is also part of Dragons Del Sur, one of the top rowing teams in Mindanao.

Dragons del Sur won many national and local rowing competitions over the past few years. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
