Team Philippines secured two bronze medals, courtesy of outstanding performances from:
Faiza Jeninna Asilum – Bronze 🥉, -50kg category
Jeniva Consigna – Bronze 🥉, -72kg category
Davaoena sambo athlete Sydney Sy also fought valiantly, earning 5th Place in the +72kg division, while Janry Pamor matched the effort with a 5th Place finish in the -58kg division.
Other notable team performances include:
Aumaegel Cortez – 7th Place, -59kg
Cresente Navares – 1 win in the -71kg division, showing promise despite tough competition
PSFI President Paolo Tancontian expressed pride in the team’s performance, citing their grit, discipline, and sportsmanship. "We are proud of what our athletes have achieved. Competing among the world's best is no easy feat, and yet our team showed heart and courage,” Tancontian said.
He also extended his gratitude to the individuals and organizations who helped fund the team's trip to Singapore, saying their support made the athletes’ international exposure and experience possible.
Though Team Philippines did not clinch a gold this year, their presence on the global stage and respectable top-10 finish reflect the growing strength and potential of SAMBO in the country. With continued support and training, PSFI looks forward to an even stronger showing in future international competitions.
