The Philippine Embassy in Paris has warned Filipinos in France against participating in illegal cockfighting and gambling activities following alerts from French authorities.
In an advisory, the embassy said French authorities had reported illegal gambling and cockfighting activities allegedly being conducted by Filipinos in France.
The embassy also noted complaints involving disturbances to public peace and littering linked to such activities.
It reminded the Filipino community that illegal cockfighting is considered an act of animal cruelty in France, punishable by up to three years in prison and a €45,000 fine.
The embassy urged Filipinos living and working in France to respect and comply with French laws and regulations.
It also called on the community to help uphold the good name and reputation of Filipinos in the country.
