A total of 108 affected families received immediate assistance as part of the senator’s efforts to help communities recover in the aftermath of disasters. The distribution of aid was aimed at addressing the urgent needs of those who lost their homes and belongings due to the fire.
The assistance included financial aid and essential items such as grocery packs, water containers, food, clothing, and other basic necessities to support the daily needs of affected residents as they begin rebuilding their lives.
During the activity, Go reiterated the importance of Republic Act No. 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of permanent, safe, and well-equipped evacuation centers in every city and municipality nationwide. As the principal author and co-sponsor of the law, the senator has consistently stressed that institutionalized evacuation centers are crucial to safeguarding the dignity, safety, and health of disaster-affected families while ensuring more orderly and humane disaster response.
The senator also highlighted RA 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Modernization Act, which he principally authored and co-sponsored. The law provides for a ten-year modernization program for the BFP, covering the hiring of additional firefighters, acquisition of modern fire and rescue equipment, and enhanced training programs to strengthen fire prevention and response capabilities across the country.
In addition, Go reiterated his support for Senate Bill No. 415, the proposed Rental Housing Subsidy Program, which he refiled in the 20th Congress. The measure seeks to provide rental assistance to families displaced by disasters, allowing them to temporarily rent safe housing while working toward securing permanent homes once the bill is enacted into law.
“Ang gamit ay nabibili, ang pera ay kikitain. Subalit ‘yung perang kikitain ay hindi po nabibili ang buhay. A lost life is a lost life forever. Importante buhay po tayo.”
The assistance distribution was held at the Barangay Saray Hall, where the senator’s team coordinated with local officials to ensure that all validated affected families were properly assisted.
Go emphasized that extending timely aid to disaster victims remains a priority, underscoring the need for sustained government support, disaster preparedness, and policies that protect lives and help communities recover more quickly from calamities.
