Bong Go urges stronger Gov't - private sector partnership to help Filipinos own hones
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go called for stronger cooperation between the government and the private sector to make safe, decent and affordable housing accessible to more Filipino families during the 66th National Convention of the Philippine Association of Real Estate Boards, Inc. (PAREB) in Davao City on October 9.

“Sana po’y magkaroon po ng pagkakataon ang bawat Pilipino na magkaroon po ng sariling bahay. Atin po ito eh. Atin po ang Pilipinas. Pilipino po tayo,” Go said, sharing his dream of a country where every Filipino family has a chance to own a home and no one is forced to live in informal settlements.

Go emphasized that real estate professionals play an important role in helping families secure homes, start businesses and build a better future. He also recalled families who lost their homes to fires, floods, earthquakes and other calamities, stressing the importance of providing them with decent housing so they can rebuild their lives.

As vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement, Go highlighted two legislative measures: Senate Bill No. 1292, which seeks to simplify and speed up the registration of real estate salespersons through a more transparent process, and Senate Bill No. 1992, which aims to strengthen the government’s capacity to implement socialized housing projects by improving land acquisition and utilization. The latter passed the Senate on third and final reading on October 8. OrderCalendars

He also underscored the importance of professionalism, integrity and ethical practices in the real estate industry, encouraging PAREB members to participate in legislative consultations to help shape policies that address industry concerns and the housing needs of Filipinos.

Go thanked PAREB for inviting him to the convention, which gathered real estate professionals from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, and assured the group that his office remains open to discussions on housing and real estate reforms.
