As of 1:30 p. m., June 8, PRO 11 continues to maintain heightened alert status and close coordination with the Office of the Civil Defense, local government units, and other concerned agencies to ensure immediate response and assistance to affected communities.
In response to the evolving situation, PRO 11 director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete alongside Quad Staff, personally conducted an ocular inspection in affected areas to assess the extent of the damage, evaluate the needs of communities, and ensure that police resources are strategically deployed where they are most needed.
To further strengthen operational readiness and coordination, the Disaster Incident Management Task Group (DIMTG) of PRO 11 has been activated to oversee disaster response operations, facilitate information management, and ensure the efficient mobilization of personnel and resources across the region.
Earlier monitoring reports showed no casualties among PNP personnel. However, the latest information from the Office of the Civil Defense confirmed the deaths of three individuals in Balut Island. Validation and assessment efforts remain ongoing as authorities continue to gather information from affected localities.
Rosete assured the public that the situation is being closely monitored and that all available resources are being utilized to support disaster response operations.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident. While this development is deeply saddening, we want to assure the public that PRO 11, together with our partner agencies, remains fully committed to safeguarding lives, maintaining public order, and delivering immediate assistance to affected communities. Our Disaster Incident Management Task Group has been activated, and our personnel are on the ground conducting assessments and response operations,” Rosete said.
Rosete,. likewise urged the public to remain calm, exercise vigilance against aftershocks, and rely only on verified information from legitimate government sources.
