Electric Cooperative exec appeals support for NORDECO
Allan L. Laniba, current president of the National Association of General Managers of Electric Cooperatives (NAGMEC) asks support for electric cooperatives especially for Northern Davao Electric Cooperative (NORDECO), Inc., which is currently facing some challenges.

He addressed his appeal to national officials to allow the poor sector to own a distribution utility through an electric cooperative.

Laniba is particularly referring to impending House Bill No. 09978 amending the franchise coverage of Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) in order to include the cities of Tagum and Samal Island, five municipalities of Davao del Norte and another municipality ofDavao de Oro.  These areas of concern are currently under the coverage of NORDECO.

Laniba is also the General Manager of two Electric Cooperatives in the Visayas such as the Leyte Electric Cooperative(LEYECO) III and  Don Orestes Romualdes Electric Cooperative(DORELCO), Inc.

Behind the challenges and trials,NORDECO continues to deliver genuine service to member consumer-owners, Laniba said.
