Davao City records lowest inflation rate in Davao Region
Despite the continuing effects of the oil crisis in April 2026, Davao City recorded a 7.0 percent inflation rate, among the lowest in the Davao Region, based on data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) April 2026 Davao Region Inflation Report.

As presented by PSA in its May 14 online report, the city’s inflation rate was lower than the overall inflation rate of the Davao Region, which was at 8.9.

In can be noted that the Davao City and the provinces experienced drastic inflation increase in April. 

Davao City inflation rate increased from 4.5 in March to 7 in April; Davao del Norte increased from 7 to 9.6; Davao Oriental increased from 5.1 to 11.5; Davao Occidental from 7.9 to 11.8; Davao de Oro from 7.9 to 11.9; and Davao del Sur from 6.9 to 10.5.

 

PSA said Davao City's major inflation contributors are food and non-alcoholic drinks with 42.2 percent share; transport, 26.5 percent share; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, 18.3 percent share.

Based on the data, the food and non-alcoholic beverages rate increased from 3.0 in March to 7.8 in April. Cereals and cereal products increased from 4.8 in March to 16.1 in April.

Transport inflation rate increased from 13 in March to 18.6 in April. Under this category, gasoline increased from 42.5 in March to 63.2 in April. Meanwhile, diesel increased from 84.3 in March to 123.6 in April.

Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels increased from 6 in March to 6.3 inflation rate in April. Under this category, Gas experienced an increase of 0.3 inflation in March to 46.3 inflation in April. 

Over-all inflation of the Philippines also surged to 7.2 in April from 4.1 in the month of March. (City Government of Davao)
