Davao City Health to immunize 80K public school learners
DAVAO CITY- The City Health Office (CHO) here is targeting around 80,000 public school pupils across the city to be immunized during the two-month school-based immunization starting Monday, October 7, 2024.

According to CHO Technical Division chief Dr. Julinda Acosta that they are going to implement the program to some 200 public schools in the city from October to November.

Acosta during I Speak Media Forum on Thursday (Oct. 3) said the program aims to provide students in grades 1, 4, and 7 with vaccines to protect them against diseases particularly german measles, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, and other diseases.

Acosta said she hopes to reach the target percentage of 100 percent of all school learners enrolled at public schools to be vaccinated.

Acosta urges parents to get their children vaccinated as a way to protect them from these preventable diseases.

Acosta admitted that some parents are still reluctant to have their children vaccinated.

Acosta assured that CHO has enough vaccines to implement the program.

“So far, ang atoang vaccines enough man siya para ma implement nato 100%,” she said.

The school-based immunization program kicks off on Monday (Oct. 7) at 8:30 a.m at the Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Central Elementary School in Ponciano Street.
