In a statement, DTI 11 Regional Director Maria Belenda Q. Ambi said that the SSF projects did not only help out the MSME with their respective operations but also aided 4,146 other beneficiaries by generating 1,497 employment opportunities.
In the past years, it progressively addressed the gaps and bottlenecks in the value chain of priority industry clusters in the region by providing machinery, equipment, tools, and other related accessories for processing, production, and or manufacturing to the 1,370 assisted MSMEs.
“We are optimistic that our beneficiaries will continue to maximize and optimize the benefits of the SSF projects we have provided them with,” she said.
With the projects, several MSME success stories have already been documented, including the virgin coconut oil (VCO) production of the Cocolife Multipurpose Cooperative in the Municipality of Pantukan, Davao de Oro with its first project established on June 21, 2013, and received an addendum on December 16, 2015.
The cooperative has established a reputable name in the province since 2005. But the provision of SSF machinery and equipment brought more life to its local coconut industry. It helped maximize the utilization of by-products and resulted in the growing demand of their produce, optimized regular income for the coconut farmers and production workers, and doubled the cooperative’s production enabling them to expand its market.
During the latest SSF Convergence cum Pre-Planning for 2023 held at The Apo View Hotel, Davao City on December 12, 2022, it was emphasized during the round table discussion that constant monitoring and assistance to MSMEs and other beneficiaries are bigger tasks to look forward to in the years ahead.
“They can also approach our provincial and field offices, including our Negosyo Centers throughout the region, for any form of assistance, especially technical, ” Ambi said.
The said interventions, accordingly, are crucial in achieving the best use and purpose of the implemented SSF projects in the region.
