 Basi sa report sa Toril Police Station, nasupak ni Saluwang ang Republic Act 10591 o ang Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines.

Ania ang tipik sa press statement nga gipagawas sa Toril PNP ubos sa liderato ni Police Major Sheryl Bautista, ang station commander..

“Mayor Saluwang and his companions were onboard a pick-up when they were apprehended in a joint checkpoint conducted by the PNP and Task Force Davao in Sirawan, Toril, Davao City after they were found carrying firearms and ammunition without the required written authority from the COMELEC for their exemption from the election gun ban.

According to Mayor Saluwang, they were about to attend the  Comprehensive Training on Efficient Fund Management in Acacia Hotel scheduled on February 6, 2025 with other Mayors of SGA BARMM.

The arrested suspect’s and pieces of evidences were brought to Toril Police Station for proper disposition and a complaint for Violations of RA10591 and Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines are now being prepared against the suspects. 

"We would like to remind the general public that the Election Gun Ban applies to all, regardless of status in society and positions in the government. No one is exempt from complying therein. It is only the COMELEC who has the sole power to issue a written authority to be able to carry firearms in accordance to existing laws and regulations,” Bautista said.
