PRO 12 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum in a statement said the municipalities that were placed under Category Red are Columbio, Palimbang and Pres. Quirino of Sultan Kudarat; Pikit, Cotabato Province; Banga, South Cotabato; and Kiamba and Maitum of Sarangani Province.
"These municipalities were considered as such after having met the parameters provided under Section 9 of COMELEC Resolution No. 10757," he said.
Tagum said PRO 12 is already on heightened alert to ensure the peaceful, safe and fair conduct of the national and local elections.
" In fact, a Multiagency Send-off Ceremony was conducted last May 4, 2022 at PRO 12, Tambler, General Santos City," he said.
He said a total of 6,355 PNP personnel participated in that ceremony and were later on augmented to the Comelec to render police duties until the end of the election period. Most of the PNP personnel are deployed to the RED areas to enhance the security and response capabilities of the police force.
Tagum also said the PRO 12 Election Monitoring Action Centers (EMAC) in regional and provincial levels and Media Action Centers (MAC) are fully activated 24/7 to monitor any untoward incidents within the duration of the election period and therefore enhance police response time.
"With this, I assure the people of SOCCSKSARGEN that your PRO 12 is here to make sure that you will be able to safely and peacefully exercise your suffrage during this election period," he said.
Tagum said he is appealing to the public to reach out to the nearest police station or AFP camps in their area if ever they notice any suspicious incident or presence of armed groups.
"You may inform PRO 12 REMAC Monitoring Center directly through ACTion Agad SMS Hotline 09469664665 for SMART and 09455211662 for Globe," he said.
