This was disclosed by Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Maj. Maria Teresita Gaspan in an interview with Radyo Pilipinas Davao on Thursday afternoon.
Gaspan said the city asked the PNP to implement a gun ban from August 15 to 22 in the entire Davao Region.
She said with the gun ban, all permits to carry firearms outside residences (PTCFOR) are suspended in all places in the region.
Gaspan said for those tourists or visitors who are bringing along with their firearms, they need to deposit their guns in the border checkpoints because the Police Regional Office 11 will really not allow them to enter.
She said the gun ban was sought as part of the security measures of the city during the festivity and asked to be regionalized so that the neighboring provinces will also observe it.
Gaspan said this was already done during the inauguration of Vice President Sara Duterte last June and found to be effective.
With its approval, the DCPO along with other security forces will strictly monitor all persons coming into the city especially in the regional border control checkpoints.
