DAVAO CITY-The head of the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) Angel Sumagaysay here said the city will deploy a total of 13,870 safety and security forces starting October 30 to November 3 to secure the 35 cemeteries here.

Sumagaysay said the city’s security and safety cluster is “all systems go” for Undas 2022.

He also clarified that there will be no closure of cemeteries this year due to the city’s current Alert Level 1 status for Covid-19.

“There was no directive to close down cemeteries this year unlike last year when the cemeteries were closed from October 24, 2021, to November 7, 2021,” he said.

He said they already finished crafting the security and safety plan for Oplan Undas 2022 after series of meetings.

Of the total 13, 870, 1,692 will be deployed on October 30; 3, 422 will be  assigned on October 31; 3,602 personnel will also be deployed on November 1; 3,602 for November 2; and, 1,552 to be deployed on November 3.

Aside from the police and other law enforcement agencies, the city also taps the military forces as support units to include the 27th Infantry Battalion, 89th IB, 56th IB, and 73rd IB.

The military units are tasked to focus on all cemeteries in District 2 including Paquibato District, Marilog District, and some parts of Toril.

Sumagaysay, however, said that the joint health and security guidelines to be followed in the cemeteries are being finalized and will be released soon to the public.

“All are included there, the health protocols, spearheaded by the City Health Office, at the same time we also joined the security and safety protocols adopted by the private cemeteries,” Sumagaysay said.
