Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division (ID) based in Mawab, Davao de Oro reported that the two successive armed encounters resulted in the killing of Ezequiel Cortez Daguman alias Rey, central committee member of the Communist Party of the Philippines, Deputy Secretary, and head of the Intelligence Operations, ROC, SMRC.
Also neutralized in the operations were Ruel Baylon alias James, a former member of the Pulang Bagani Command (PBC) and Quirino Remegio alias Jelly/Manoy, a member of iskwad Baking, ROC, and a former member of Weakened Guerilla Front 2.
The operating troops were able to recover seven high-powered firearms to include an M4 rifle, M16A1 rifle, CZ858 AK47 rifle, and two M4 rifles; M203 Grenade Launchers; and anti-personnel improvised explosive device.
Also seized during the operation were several 40mm high-explosive ammunition, personal belongings, medical paraphernalia, and subversive documents with high intelligence value.
Daguman has existing warrants of arrest such as Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention; Double Murder; Robbery with violence; Serious Illegal Detention; and Murder issued by the 11th Judicial Region Branch 10, 11 and 30 and 12th Judicial Region Branch 23 and 14.
Major General Nolasco A Mempin, 10ID Commander commended the troops of the 1001st Infantry Brigade under Brigadier General Jesus P Durante III for another accomplishment and for their relentless push to clear more grounds from communist terrorist group (CTG) infestation, especially in Davao de Oro.
“Your Agila Troopers will continue to pursue the remaining Communist NPA Terrorists in Southern Mindanao, and will not rest until the whole area of 10ID will be free from the presence of the CPP-NPA-NDF," Mempin said.
