GSIS chief vows to protect gov’t properties
DAVAO CITY- The President and General Manager of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Jose Arnulfo Veloso vowed to pursue the agency’s mandate of protecting government properties and interests through insurance.

“To protect government assets and grow our funds, we are carrying out an intensive information dissemination campaign and advocating to all national and local officials that insuring government properties is part of good governance,” Veloso said in a press conference on Friday (Sept. 16) at GSIS Davao branch along Mc Arthur Highway.

Under Republic Act 656, GSIS is mandated to provide insurance cover to all government assets and properties with insurable interests.

In Davao City, its special business unit has already surpassed its target this year by 180 percent, generating P84 million in insurance premium against its P46 million goal.

Veloso also mentioned that under his leadership he will focus on the digital transformation of GSIS to provide the ultimate customer experience for its more than two million members and pensioners.

“I want GSIS to be the gold standard or the benchmark for public sector digitalization,” he said.

Veloso further said that he would ensure that the hard-earned premium contributions of its members are invested wisely to pay their benefits promptly.

Veloso also vowed to collect all contributions to make sure that their members have pensions.

Meanwhile, the GSIS Davao branch which is the pension fund’s oldest and biggest branch in Mindanao has a total of 60,000 active members and pensioners.
