CIDG- Davao del Norte head Lt. Col. Milgrace Driz identified the arrested suspect as Oswaldo Quimay Noval, 64 years old, and a resident of the barangay.
Noval was arrested through a search warrant issued by Judge Emma G. Betonio, the executive judge of Regional Trial Court, 11th Judicial Region, Panabo City dated Sept. 28.
Confiscated during the raid were two units of caliber 45 pistol; shotgun, jolen gun, hand grenade, several bullets, magazines, and assorted spare parts.
The suspect is now detained at Panabo City Police Station, while the seized items are in the custody of CIDG for proper disposition.
According to Driz, the suspect revealed to them that he is tasked and responsible in monitoring the prolifiration of loose firearms in the province and neighboring provinces.
Investigation of the police showed that the suspect is also allegedly active in selling loose firearms in Davao Region.
Driz said her office intensifies its operations against proliferation of loose firearms with the active support of the community and its counterpart from the Special Action Force, Philippine Army, Local Police Stations, and other law enforcement agencies.
Driz also encouraged all those who possessed or in control of loose firearms to include unlicensed and unrenewed guns within the privince to surrender them to CIDG.
Driz assured they will process the firearms to properly disposed to authorities and make appropriate documentations or advice them to renew and secure the required documents to avoid unnecessary problems.
