Davao City to extend cash aid to quake victims in Abra
Davao City acting Administrator Lawyer Francis Mark Layog announced that the city will provide cash assistance to the victims of the magnitude 7 earthquake that hit Abra last week.

Layog said that the city government is now complying with the requirements so that aid can be sent to the earthquake victims.

He said the reconstitution of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRMC) is necessary for the release of the budget.

"Our disaster council is up for reconstitution and after that, definitely, we will send help,” Layog said in a report from the City Information Office (CIO).

Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Head Alfredo Baloran, meanwhile said that his office is now in coordination with other departments to fast-track the reconstitution.

He said that once the reconstitution is done, they will call for an emergency meeting to discuss the aid.

The city government had previously given P1 Million in financial assistance for provinces hit by disasters, P500,000 for cities, and P300,000 for municipalities.

Baloran, however, clarified that it is still up to the reconstituted local disaster council whether to adopt the same amount of financial assistance or not.
