DLI held aground breaking for Kahi Estates on Tuesday (Oct. 15) at Libby Road in Barangay Puan, this city.
DLI President Ricardo “Cary” Lagdameo said Kahi means “kahilum” (in Visayan language) which means silence, tranquility, and peace. He said these are what we want for our homeowners to experience while living in the property.
DLI is now in its 20th year in real property development, which is why it described Kahi Estates as its inaugural agri-residence project.
Kahi Estates will be built on a five-hectare property. It is an open-lot subdivision with 42lots available for sale with a lot area from 321 to 628 square meters at a contract price ranging from P11.2 million to P17.6 million per lot.
Lagdameo said Kahi Estates is another green infrastructure that DLI embarks on similar to its 88-hectare Agriya agritourism development in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
“The property has access to community farms and personal vegetable gardens, the same thing that we are doing in Agriya in Panabo City,” he said.
Kahi Estates features green infrastructure like the retention of fruit-bearing trees, open space enhancement to prioritize ample green areas, tree-lined and shaded streetscapes, restoration of ecological communities, water bodies or wetlands to enhance biodiversity, and open spaces for community farming and backyard gardens.
DLI partners with Palafox Associates for the architecture design concept of the estate.
The architectural design features among others, the use of butterfly roofs for rainwater harvesting; integrated landscaping to ensure an eco-friendly atmosphere, an urban garden, large window openings, and shading elements.
The use of recycled steel products, the application of soil stabilizers in land development, and the construction of a detention pond will be applied to alleviate flooding.
To harmonize the building with its environment, nature-inspired material palettes like off-white natural stone and light wood will be used in the construction.
Other components of the project include clubhouse, gated perimeter, linear park, guard house, and model unit.
“We will be building a model house. Not necessarily for sale to all of our buyers but we wanted to build a house that would be a showcase to our homeowners as to what they can do in their lots,” Lagdameo said.
Kahi Estates is targeted to be completed by October 2027.
