During the meeting led by Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency(PDEA), under its Barangay Drug Clearing Program, reported that out of the 480 barangays in the province, 450, or 93.75 percent, are confirmed “drug cleared.” Cotabato is a first-class province consisting of 17 municipalities, one city, and 480 barangays.,
They also confirmed illegal drugs are still increasing in the remaining 30 barangays. This prompted Mendoza to advise the PNP and PDEA to “closely coordinate with the local government units (LGUs) specifically the mayors of the remaining illegal-drug-affected barangays to help resolve the problem.”
The PNP and PDEA reported having stepped up anti-illegal drug campaigns in schools, and various offices in the provincial capitol through the conduct of symposiums and drug-free workplace orientations and sports clinics in multiple LGUs.
At the meeting, Department of Interior and Local Government acting provincial director Inecita Kionisala presented Regional and National ADAC performance emphasizing that the majority of the LGUs of the province have "high functionality" performance rating due to strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of local anti-drug abuse programs, projects and activities.
