On Wednesday morning, (Sept. 7), the military and police arrested Private First Class Mohammad Kasingsingan Kitig, 26 years old and a resident of Brgy. Poblacion, Matalam, North Cotabato.
Kitig, who is assigned to the Civil Military Operation of 6th Infantry Division in Awang Maguindanao was arrested while passing through the Sirawan checkpoint in Toril district of this city.
He was arrested for possessing seven high powered firearms without legal documents, several magazines, and bullets.
Also arrested by the operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 11 was Army captain Ahmad Matawag, assigned at the 48th Infantry Battalion based in Lupon, Davao Oriental.
Matawag was handcuffed as he was selling a rifle to an agent who posed as buyer for selling a rifle during an operation on Tuesday (September 6) at the Riverfront City, Diversion Road, Maa, this city.
The 10th ID in its statement Wednesday said that the command does not tolerate any misconduct of its personnel whether officer, enlisted personnel, or civilian human resource.
“The apprehension of one of its soldiers currently assigned to one of our Operational Control units is a clear manifestation that your Army is serious about getting rid of undisciplined, unprofessional, and scalawag soldiers,” the statement said.
10th ID assures the public to be transparent and will support the ongoing process to achieve an honest and credible result of the investigation.
Captain Mark Anthony Tito,the spokesman of 10th ID, meanwhile, clarified that 48th IB where Matawag is assigned is under 7th Infantry Division based in Nueva Ecija and it is only under the operational control of 10th ID.
He said Matawag is not an organic member of 10th ID.
Criminal complaints for violation of the Republic Act 10591 are still being prepared against the arrested soldiers.
