The remains of Didi Andel alias Sisoy arrived at Tactical Operations Wing Eastern Mindanao, Old Airport, Brgy. Sasa, Davao City, Sunday.
Sidol Andel and Jimboy Andel, father and brother of Didi Andel, respectively, received the cadaver which was transported by C295 aircraft of the Philippine Air Force. Sisoy was killed in an encounter against the troops of the 17th Infantry Battalion under the 5th Infantry Division on February 13.
Jimboy thanked the Armed Forces of the Philippines for facilitating the return of his brother's dead body to their hometown at Sitio Tibukag, Barangay Dagohoy, Talaingod, Davao Del Norte.
"Dako kaayo among pasalamat sir sa inyoha. Bisan sakit na sa among dughan, pero wala na mi mahimo, dawaton na lang gyud namo (We thank you very much sir. Even though it hurts, there's nothing we can do. We need to accept what happened)," Jimboy said.
Sidol, meanwhile, said they waited for Didi for nine years and hoped that soon he would return back home.
Major General Jose Eriel M. Niembra, 10th ID commander lauded the effort of 5th ID and the 56th Infantry Battalion for taking action to safely transport the remains of alias Sisoy back to his hometown in Talaingod.
"We value the lives of our fellow Filipino people,” Niembra said.
Niembra called on the remaining NPA members to surrender to the folds of the law and live a peaceful life ahead with their respective families.
