All teams especially Surigao and Davao, aim to nail down the crown in the highly competitive online chess tournament.
The Surigao team owned by Arena Grand Master Rey C. Urbiztondo is composed of former UAAP stars Kevin Mirano, Adrian Perez, and Alexis Mirabao with 3 strong lawyers in their lineup headed by the team coach,
Lawyer Cliburn Anthony Orbe, commissioner lawyer Melzar Galicia, and lawyer Jason Bandal with Dr. Wil Maghanoy of Iligan.
Also part of the team are original stalwarts Lennon Hart Salgados and Alfred Rapanot and Lady PCL MVP last season, Mariel Batulan Romero.
The Davao team will be made up of lawyer Jong Guevarra, Ariel Aton, and Anthony Mosqueda.
Aside from the two teams, Chessmiss TV Chess Team another strong team is headed by Engrs. Billy Joe Ereno and Jeson Bolando alongside Sherwin Tiu, Anatoly Pascua, AGM Julius Ablin, Jayson Salubre, coach Nazario Ubanan, team captain Junmark Baldesimo, Jimmy Dano, Apollo Agapay, team manager John Percival Chua among others.
Also part of the tournament is three other Mindanao teams namely: Zamboanga, Malaybalay, and Dipolog.
Sources said Urbiztondo facilitated the entry of the Davao team with his new appointment as VP External of PCL. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
