Pilipinas Sambo wins 3 medals in Indonesia
DAVAO CITY---After the golden performance of Davaoeno Sambo Practioner Sydney Sy Tancontian in the 2022 Asian Sambo Championships on June 4 in Jounieh, Lebanon, the Pilipinas Sambo Federation Incorporated won three more medals for the Philippines in the Indonesia Sambo Series 2022 in Bandung Jawa Barat, Indonesia on June 11 and 12.

The Pilipinas Sambo team, coached by Davaoeno Ace Larida, won one gold and two silvers in the tournament participated in by some of the top Sambo teams in the world.

The gold was bagged by Sydney's younger brother Chino Sy Tancontian (-98 kg), and the silvers were provided by Troy Estrella Legaspi (-71kg) and Janry Pamor (58kg).

Pilipinas Sambo President Paolo Tancontian is very happy with the team's victory, which he considered as three of their best young male talent.

"I'm grateful we won 2 Golds in 1 Week," Tancontian said.

Sydney won the gold earlier in the  +80KG women's sport sambo event in the tournament by some of the top Sambo practitioners in Asia.

The University of Santo Tomas Judo varsity beat Arailym Abenova of Kazakhstan to win the coveted gold in the senior division.

It is the second gold for Tancontian in the same event since she also won the gold in the 2019 Asian Juniors Sambo in Mongolia. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
