National Master Elwin Herbias Retanal won the crown after scoring 6.5 points in the chessfest participated in by some of the top chessers in the Middle East.
Retanal, a captain waiter at King Salman Royal Palace, stayed unbeaten in the seven-round Swiss System.
The 42-year-old NM received cash and a trophy as prizes.
Last September 25 - October 2, 2021, Retanal also won the same tournament.
Retanal also won the crown by scoring 6.5 points in the chessfest participated in by some of the top chessers in the Middle East.
In a Facebook post, Retanal expressed great joy over his win.
"Thank you Lord! Champion ??," Retanal said.
Retanal has joined several local, national, and international chess tournaments.
He also plays in the Professional Chess Association in the Philippines, the first professional chess league in the Philippines. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
