DAVAO CITY—Three promising football players from Region 11 have played crucial roles in helping the Far Eastern University Tamaraws senior football team win the 2023 UAAP college football crown.
Resty Dela Cruz, a resident here and player of Crocs Football Club, Ace Amita, a footballer from Maco, Davao de Oro, and Gerald Estores from Tagum City, Davao del Norte, helped the Tamaraws win the UAAP crown after beating the defending champion Ateneo de Manila University booters in the finals 4-1.
In the finals, Estores even scored one goal for the team.
The Tamaraws decided to recruit and sign the two Davaoenos due to their unique football skills.
Dela Cruz, a fullback, is a good scorer and defender and was a prominent football player before he brought his talent to Metro Manila.
Additionally, Amita is part of the Amita clan, a known football family in Davao de Oro. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
