Tancontian, national coach Ace Larida, and sensei Amano Moto of Round One Gym stated that they would be paying another courtesy call to the new chairman of the PSC, Richard Bachmann, the former 2nd General Manager of the Alaska Aces, who replaced the outgoing chair Noli Eala after the holidays, during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) year-end forum on December 29, 2022, at the SM City Davao Annex.
Bachmann is joined at the helm by commissioners Edward Hayco, a former sports czar for Cebu City; Olivia "Bong" Coo, a star in Philippine bowling; and Walter "Wawit" Torres.
The PSFI, on the other hand, will be concentrating on several national and international events this year (2023), such as the Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia, the Asian Sambo Championships in Kazakhstan, and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) later this year in Bangkok, Thailand, according to Larida, who also revealed that 2022 had been a fruitful and productive year for the PSFI.
Tancontian was also named the deputy chef de mission for the upcoming SEAG in 2023, which is scheduled for May 5–17.
The Philippine Sambists, who will compete for the flag and their country in 2023, will be led by Asian Sambo Queen Sydney Sy-Tancontian, Chino Sy-Tancontian, and the rest of the team. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
