DAVAO CITY –After a long wait, lefty Davaoeno sharpshooter Allyn Bulanadi could finally play for Gilas Pilipinas in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) World Cup Qualifiers on February 24 to 28.

It was learned that the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has told Bulanadi's agent Danny Espiritu that they want to use his player in the February tournament before releasing him to Alaska Aces and the PBA.

Bulanadi has long wanted to play for Gilas but a shoulder injury derailed his plans.

Earlier, Aces head coach Jeff Cariaso said he will be glad if Bulaadi can join them soon since he can contribute a lot to the team especially in scoring.

"If you were to ask me, I'd love to have him as soon as possible," Cariaso said.

"I think it's time to allow the Gilas draftees to choose where they want to play," Cariaso added.

Bulanadi for his part said he was open to the idea of playing for the Aces since he had yet to play professional basketball for the past two years due to his injury and the pandemic.

"Ang tagal na rin kasi akong walang basketball. I think two years na kasi nga I got injured. But so far, so good naman yung recovery. I think 100-percent na," Bulanadi said.

Bulanadi, who was drafted fourth by the Alaska Aces in the 2019 PBA draft, is a former high school basketball varsity of Assumption School of Davao.

He started to make a name in Metro Manila while playing for the San Sebastian Stags where he is known as a deadly shooter.

He also played in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) for Basilan Steel.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
