PH women footballers fell to Scotland in Spain 1-2

In the 40th minute, Scotland's Lauren Davidson beat Filipina team's goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel with a screamer. 

The Filipinas lost their second consecutive match after losing 1-0 to Wales in the first game.

The defeat eliminated the Philippines from contention, but they still have one game remaining on Wednesday against Iceland.

A header from Caroline Weir's corner kick gave Rachel Corsie a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute.

Meryll Serrano scored a low free kick in the 90th minute as the Filipinas tried to rally after sensing that the game was slipping away.

Nevertheless, time had run out because a second goal didn't materialize.

Scotland's victory was momentous after their 2-0 loss to Iceland the previous week.

But Tahnai Annis, the captain of the Filipina team, firmly believes that the players will ultimately benefit from the chance to compete against top European teams.

The current competition will be one of the Filipinas' preparations for the FIFA Women's World Cup, which will be held in August in Australia, New Zealand, and Australia.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
