DAVAO CITY---A Dabawenyo proved that Davao City's football program is among the best in the Philippines.

Matt Lim, son of New City Commercial Center (NCCC) chief operating officer (CEO) Lafayette Alvarez Lim, has made it to the 25-man national team for the Philippine Under-16 National Football Team.

With his inclusion in the team, Lim is now part of the Philippine U-16 team that will compete in the Asian Football Federation (AFF) Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 4.

Lafayette is pleased with the inclusion of his son in the national football team that will compete in Indonesia.

"Woohoo, Matt! Making the team is already an awesome achievement. Whatever that comes after are all bonuses and blessings," Lafayette said.

"We're proud of you, Matt. You sacrificed your summer vacation plans for this and you made it. Give them your very best," Lafayette added.

Lim has represented Davao City and the Philippines in general in local, national, and international football tournaments.

Aside from his skills, his deep dedication to the sport makes Lim a standout football player.

Currently, the football community of Davao City is happy and proud that one of its own has made it to the national team. (Romeo Braceros, Jr.)
