Adamson goes 2-0 after upset win vs Davao Occidental Tigers in Kadayawan 2022 basketball tournament
DAVAO CITY — The Adamson Soaring Falcons have taken the lead alongside Davao City in the ongoing Kadayawan 2022 Invitational basketball tournament after beating favorites, and current Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League and Pilipinas Super League champions Davao Occidental Tigers on Friday night at the University of Southeastern Philippines gymnasium.

The young and athletic Falcons beat the Tigers 83-80 to go undefeated in the tournament after two games. 

The Falcons' rookie point guard, Jerom Lastimosa, hit a game-winning three-pointer at the top of the key with 4.6 seconds remaining to defeat the veteran-laden Tigers. 

Lastimosa had a solid game with 19 points, highlighted by three three-pointers, including the game-winning shot. 

The Falcons' sharp-shooting big man, Vince Magbuhos, scored 29 points, including four three-pointers, to lead his team in scoring in their win. 

On the same day, a Davao City team made up of players from the MPBL also went 2-0 after they demolished the Zamboanga Valientes 96-75. 

Roberto Marianao and Nico Abatayo scored 14 points each to lead Davao to a victory against the Valientes. 

Meanwhile, JM Domingo scored 17 points for the Valientes in a losing cause. 

In the other game, the Far Eastern University Tamaraws bounced back from their opening day defeat by beating General Santos Bulalakaw 79-74. 

The Tamaraws' young and peppery point-guard, LG Gonzales, scored 29 points, highlighted by five three-pointers, to lead his team to victory against the Bulalakaw. 

Tamaraws sharpshooter Xyrus Torres also added 13 points for the Tamaraws in their win. 

Emmanuel Ojjuola scored 20 for the Bulalakaw in a losing cause. 

Davaoeno Joem Morada also added 18 points for the Bulalakaw in their defeat. 

According to Tournament Director Miggy Solitaria, the winning team will receive P100,000, while the runners-up will receive P50,000, P40,000, P30,000, P20,000, and P10,000. (Romeo Braceros, Jr.)
