In his final State of the Town Address (SOTA) on March 24, Evangelista cited the establishment of Dangpanan ni Tomas, a satellite office of the town mayor that offers 24/7 services, as his most outstanding achievement since he became chief town executive of the first-class municipality three years back.
Evangelista said the office allows town residents to seek help from him any time of the day and week without waiting for him to address their problems personally.
"Dili na sila kinahanglan mosaka pa sa second floor para lang mangayo ug tabang ilaha lang buhaton moadto sa opisina sa Dangpanan ni Tomas para mahatagan ug solusyon unsa man ilahang mga problema," Evangelista said.
He said Dangpanan ni Tomas offers all kinds of services to people, including legal problems, medical, burial, and other financial needs.
The first-time mayor of the town said he decided to establish the office because he wanted his people to feel that government is ready to help and serve them anytime they need assistance.
"Pinaagi sa Dangpanan ni Tomas dili na kinahanglan mosaka or mohulat pa nako para lang maserbisyohan ang katawhan ilaha lang buhaton adto sa opisina sa Dangpanan maserbisyohan na nato sila," Evangelista added.
During his SOTA inside the jampacked gymnasium of the town, Evangelista also said that after almost two years of fighting COVID-19, his village is now COVID free.
Evangelista cited the help of the private sector as one of the top reasons why they finally beat the deadly COVID-19 disease in their town.
"Daghan kaayong salamat sa private sector sa tabang para mahimo kitang COVID-19 free susama sa Aboitiz, Marsman, Tadeco," he said.
He said being COVID-19 free is a huge relief to him and the people since during the surge of COVID in the town, they could record more than 200 cases and saw the death of more than 100 of them.
The highly respected town mayor said despite being COVID-19 free, they will continue to impose minimum health standards to ensure the continuous protection of the people against the deadly virus.
"We already have an ordinance that mandates people always to wear face masks whenever they are outside their homes," he added. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
