Two separate relief distributions were conducted. The first aid activity took place in the morning at Nueva Gym in Barangay Taft, where 133 residents were accommodated. This was followed by another activity in the afternoon at Taft National High School, where 74 individuals were aided. Go’s Malasakit Team spent time with the beneficiaries to extend assistance, offer comfort, and reaffirm that no Filipino should recover alone after a fire emergency.
“Huwag po kayong mawalan ng pag-asa. Ang gamit po, napapalitan, pero ang buhay ay hindi. A lost life is a lost life forever. Magtulungan lang po tayo, sino ba naman ang magtutulungan kundi tayo kapwa Pilipino. Magseserbisyo ako sa inyo sa abot ng aking makakaya,” Go said, emphasizing the importance of bayanihan during adversity.
His team also distributed financial assistance to each beneficiary along with essential items such as grocery packs and water containers. Selected beneficiaries also received mobile phones, watches, basketballs, volleyballs, or pairs of shoes.
He likewise acknowledged the national government for assessing the victims to ensure they can benefit from its housing assistance program, which aims to help them rebuild their homes.
Go expressed gratitude to the local officials who helped organize the activities and extend support to the affected residents. He likewise thanked Vice Governor Geed Gokiangkee and other local officials for assisting the beneficiaries.
Go reiterated his commitment to strengthening housing assistance programs and supporting families affected by fire emergencies.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance fire prevention in communities, citing the Bureau of Fire Protection's modernization under Republic Act No. 11589, which he principally authored and co-sponsored. The law mandates a comprehensive ten-year modernization plan to equip the bureau with advanced capabilities for fire response.
Additionally, he filed Senate Bill No. 415, which seeks to establish a Rental Housing Subsidy Program for disaster victims. If enacted, the measure will provide temporary shelter assistance while displaced families transition to permanent housing.
“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon,” underscored Go, who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
