In a statement on Saturday, PNP Chief PGen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said Duterte has yet to report to the police any threat to her life or to the safety of her family, including threats she said have existed since 2023.
Nartatez said the PNP remains open to receiving documents, reports or statements regarding the alleged threats so authorities can properly check, assess and verify the information.
The police chief also said the PNP provided security assistance during Duterte’s appearance before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court on September 5, where she posted bail following the issuance of a warrant of arrest. Nartatez stressed that police personnel are expected to comply with the law and existing policies and procedures and to perform their duties professionally and lawfully.
The PNP, he added, respects the right of individuals to raise concerns about their safety and treatment, saying authorities will allow the verification process to proceed before providing further information once the facts have been established.
