Grab, McDonald’s Mobilize Food Aid, Community Support, and Public Donations for Mindanao Earthquake Relief
GENERAL SANTOS, Philippines – Grab and McDonald’s Philippines have mobilized joint relief operations supporting families, driver-partners, and communities affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck offshore Sarangani earlier this month, causing widespread damage across General Santos City and neighboring provinces in Mindanao.

Grab and McDonald’s collaborated to donate, pick up, and deliver meals to the local government command center in General Santos City. These meals were distributed to families displaced or directly affected by the disaster, helping address urgent food needs as local authorities continue rescue, relief, and damage-assessment operations.

The joint effort brings together McDonald’s food relief capability and Grab’s on-ground mobility, logistics, and delivery network to help move immediate aid to affected communities more efficiently. For families facing disrupted access to food, transport, and basic services, the partnership provided timely support in the critical first days of recovery.

Grab is also extending direct assistance to its driver- and delivery-partners in the region, many of whom are part of the same communities hit by the earthquake and whose livelihoods may have been disrupted by damaged homes, roads, vehicles, utilities, and reduced economic activity.

Relief packs containing 10 kilograms of rice, bottled water, and canned goods were distributed to GrabFood, GrabCar, and GrabTaxi driver-partners in General Santos, as well as GrabFood delivery-partners in Koronadal.

To enable more Filipinos to take part in the relief effort, Grab is also activating GrabBayanihan, allowing users to convert their GrabCoins into donations that will support earthquake relief initiatives for affected families and communities in partnership with Angat Buhay, Jollibee Group Foundation, McDonald's Kindness Kitchen, and World Vision.

"When our communities face a crisis, we show up together. Not from the outside looking in, but as part of the community itself," said Grab Philippines Vice President for Cities CJ Lacsican. "Together with McDonald's, we are moving fast to bring food and essential support to the families affected by the earthquake. And we are taking care of our driver and delivery partners, many of them recovering from the same disaster even as they show up to serve. That is the kind of community we are building together. Grab will always show up for Filipinos, especially when it matters most."

McDonald’s Philippines Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Ada A. Lazaro shares, “In moments like these, every meal and every act of kindness can make a difference. We are grateful to partner with Grab in bringing immediate support to families affected by the earthquake in Mindanao. As communities begin the journey toward recovery, McDonald’s remains committed to extending Malasakit and helping wherever we can.”

Grab and McDonald’s will continue coordinating with local government units and relief partners to assess emerging needs and explore additional support as recovery efforts progress.
