This legislative move is part of the broader effort to amend Section 14(L) of Batas Pambansa Blg. 129, also known as 'The Judiciary Reorganization Act of 1980'. By establishing these new court branches, the bill seeks to address the increasing number of pending cases and ensure faster delivery of justice in the region.
As a member of the Senate Committee on Justice, Go expressed his support for the bill's passage.
Go emphasized the importance of a robust judicial system in upholding democracy and protecting citizens' rights.
The senator also highlighted the collaborative effort involved in the bill's passage, thanking his colleagues in the Senate for their support.
I am grateful to my fellow senators for recognizing the urgent need to improve our judicial infrastructure," Go remarked.
Aside from this bill, Go also co-sponsored fifteen other judicial expansion bills that were approved on the third reading.
Finally, Go assured the public that he would continue to advocate for further reforms and improvements in the legal system to benefit all Filipinos.
Go earlier filed Senate Bill No. 2111 to strengthen the fiscal autonomy of the Judicial branch. The bill mandates that the budget proposal prepared by the Supreme Court shall be incorporated into the draft national budget without revisions.
He also filed SBN 1186, which seeks the creation of additional divisions of the Court of Appeals and the appointment of additional justices to help the Judiciary provide a more reliable, unbiased, and swift delivery of justice in the country.
