Bong Go hopeful PDP will top 2028 Senate race: “Wala talaga tayong pera pero nanalo tayo”
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, serving as national auditor, expressed gratitude to members of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) as he highlighted the party’s ability to secure victories despite limited resources, saying he hopes the same momentum can propel the party to produce another top-ranking senator in 2028.

Speaking during the PDP National Council meeting on April 11 at the party’s headquarters in Sta. Mesa, Manila, Go underscored how the party’s strength has consistently come from unity and volunteer-driven efforts.

“Unang-una, wala po akong io-audit dahil wala namang pera yung PDP. Sa totoo lamang po, nanalo po tayo sa pagtutulungan, volunteerism,” Go said, drawing light laughter from the audience as he opened his remarks with a candid observation about the party’s finances.

He stressed that even without financial backing, PDP managed to achieve strong electoral results.

“Wala talaga tayong pera pero nanalo tayo. Yun ang importante,” he added.

He shared that when he served as national auditor beginning in 2015, financial concerns were rarely an issue because campaigns were sustained by local support.

“Hindi po naging problema yung trabaho ng isang auditor kasi noong 2016, noong nanalo po si President Duterte, lahat po may host talaga,” he explained.

Go added that similar arrangements carried through subsequent elections, with various allies stepping in to shoulder campaign expenses, allowing the party to focus on mobilization rather than funding.

He credited party leaders and members for sustaining PDP through challenging electoral cycles, noting that even in difficult circumstances, the party managed to produce top-ranking candidates.

“Nagtulungan po kami lalung-lalo na po yung midterm election na hirap po tayo pero dapat maging proud po tayo kahit walang pera yung PDP nakapag-produce po tayo ng dalawang No. 1,” he said.

Looking ahead, Go expressed hope that the party can build on this foundation and expand its presence in the Senate.

“Nanalo po tayo hopefully sana po sa darating na 2028 sana po madagdagan pa ang atin senador at makaproduce pa ng number one sa senado,” he said, rallying party members.

He emphasized that trust and unity within the party remain essential as it prepares for future elections, reiterating that collective effort—not financial resources—will continue to define PDP’s strength.
