The activity, which is in celebration of World Clean Up Day done in partnership with BaiAni Foundation, with Kennemer Eco Solutions, Tonggo nang Kagul'langan, and Tantara had engaged with 200 volunteers to conduct a massive cleanup drive that swept across the entire province of Davao Oriental.
The team successfully gathered 167 sacks of mixed waste materials composed of scrap plastics, glass bottles, cellophanes, used clothes, cigarette packs, and dried branches.
BaiAni Foundation said that this collaborative effort brought together volunteers, environmental enthusiasts, and concerned citizens eager to make a tangible difference in their local environment.
The cleanup operation spanned the province's mountainous ridges to its coastal reefs.
The waste materials that were collected from various locations within the province contributes to the overall effort to restore and preserve the natural beauty of the province, according to Maje Egento, the Senior Technical Officer of BaiAni Foundation.
The collected wastes were coordinated properly to relevant stakeholders and agencies for proper disposal.
Different stakeholders from the IP communities, Barangay Local Government Units, Philippine National Police, Barangay Health Workers, among others joined the activity.
Egento said the World Clean Up Day provided the perfect backdrop for the above named organizations to unite and create a cleaner, healthier, and more vibrant Davao Oriental.
