According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Davao Region, 1.6 kilos of shabu and 40 kilos marijuana, and expired medicines were destroyed through a “thermal facility.”
These dangerous drugs were confiscated by PDEA-Davao Region and were presented as evidence in several cases filed in court in Davao Region.
The banned narcotics were seized by the PDEA agencies but were no longer needed as evidence in court.
Representatives from the Department of Justice, Department of the Interior and Local Government, local officials, civil society groups and members of the media were present during the activity.
PDEA 11 director Edgar Jubay said the burning of illegal drugs was also done to erase the skepticism of the public on tge alleged recycling of seized and surrendered illegal drugs by law enforcement agencies.
