A number of people have benefitted from the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program of Northern Davao Electric Cooperative Inc. (Nordeco).

Kalinga ng Nordeco gives aid to victims of disasters like fire, flooding, and earthquakes.

Lerio R. Maniwang, the head of the Information Education and Promotion of Nordeco told media that at least 1,200 victims of the recent flooding in Kapalong, Davao del Norte received relief goods distributed by Nordeco.

On March 17, Kalinga ng Nordeco also provided aid to the family of Juvie Tambiling, a fire victim from Purok Mangga,San Agustin in Tagum City.  Tambiling family received one sack of rice, grocery items and P5,000 cash. It was given personally by Area 2 Manager,Demetrio Jagunos.

Maniwang said Nordeco is also conducting Brigada Eskwela every year.

In 2021, up to 603 elementary schools in Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte received bags of health kits and multivitamins from Nordeco as protection against Covid-19.

The electric cooperative also conducts Pamaskong Handog yearly wherein they will distribute gift certificates for groceries to Nordeco’s member-consumers-owners (MCOs).  

The women sector under the franchise covered by Nordeco are also recipients of Nordeco’s livelihood training including meat processing and other processed foods, Maniwang said. The program is part of the cooperative’s community development program, she added.

Nordeco has also partnered with TESDA for the conduct of Electrification Installation and Maintenance training for the youth. It is a continuing program of the cooperative aimed at providing additional livelihood to its MCOs.

Maniwang said such training was conducted in the areas of Laak, New Bataan, Montevista , New Corella and Asuncion.

The training is face to face.  Each batch is composed of 30 participants to observe the standard health protocol of physical distancing, Maniwang said.

Upon completion of the training, the beneficiaries will receive an NC2 Certification from TESDA as 

accredited electrician.

She said Nordeco together with their partners are committed to extend help to those who are in 

need.
