MV Bella Trix refloated in Davao Oriental
DAVAO CITY- The cargo vessel MV GY Bella Trix, which had been aground since Friday, May 3 was successfully refloated early Monday morning at Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.

MV GY Bella Trix of GY Shipping Line was traveling from Davao City to Tagoloan, Cagayan de Oro, carrying a cargo of bulk wheat, with 22 crew members aboard, including the Master.

Philippine Coast Guard Southeastern Mindanao (PCGSEM) reported that the vessel was freed from its aground position without the need for external assistance at 03:58 a.m. Monday.

The said vessel has relocated and dropped its anchor safely in the vicinity waters off Sitio Impog, Barangay Lavigan earlier Monday at around 05:45 a.m.

According to PCGSEM Spokesman Commander Angel Tobias, observations indicate that there are no signs of oil spill in the surrounding waters, mitigating initial environmental concerns.

She said the vessel is now set to be towed to Sta. Ana Anchorage in this city where it will remain anchored pending a thorough inspection by the PCG and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).

The said inspection aims to assess any potential damage sustained during the incident and to ensure the vessel meets all safety regulations before returning to operation.

Tobias said local authorities and the maritime agencies are closely monitoring the situation.
