DAVAO CITY – Secretary Leo Tereso A. Magno lauded local businessmen for their crucial contributions to Mindanao's development during the closing ceremony of the Mindanao Development Forum 2024 on Thursday, July 25.

“We need a lot of help from local businessmen. You are not just participants; you are our partners in the Mindanao Development Forum 2024 and integral to its success,” Secretary Magno emphasized in his closing speech.

He affirmed MinDA's commitment to welcoming investors eager to do business in Mindanao.

“If there are people who want to bring projects to Mindanao, we will assist you with the necessary documentation until your projects are completed,” Secretary Magno assured.

The two-day Mindanao Development Forum, which commenced on July 24, featured sessions aligned with the nine Mindanao agendas, grouped into five thematic areas: People, Prosperity, Planet, Peace, and Partnerships. Each session included presentations of inputs and recommendations from representatives.

“During this forum, Congressman Bambi Emano committed to helping MinDA secure funds to address our river basin issues,” Secretary Magno revealed.

He stressed the importance of continued peace programs, stating, “If there is peace, development will follow.”

Secretary Magno confirmed that the recommendations and inputs from the forum will be presented at the next MinDA Board meeting, scheduled for next month. Additionally, he plans to bring the necessary recommendations to the Office of the President and the House of Representatives.

“There are growing needs in a developing area like Mindanao. We will require more partnerships and collaborations with local businessmen and developmental partners,” he added.

He expressed gratitude to stakeholders and MinDA personnel for their efforts in making the forum a success.

“I assure you that the hard work, time, and expertise you have invested in this two-day forum will not go to waste. We are committed to being participative, consultative, and attentive to all concerned stakeholders,” Magno said.

He also thanked Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo and, most especially, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for their continued support of Mindanao.

"The President continuously voices his concern and love for Mindanao. We have a President who loves and cares for the Mindanaoans," Magno concluded.
