Mati City lifts quarantine on several Barangays amid declining swine mortality reports

The restrictions were previously imposed due to swine mortalities linked to African Swine Fever (ASF)-like symptoms.

In a letter addressed to Mayor Michelle N. Rabat, City Veterinarian Dr. Marites Erispe reported that after 21 days of quarantine, barangays such as DMM, Libudon, Badas, Tamisan, Lawigan, Dawan, Taguibo, Culián, and DEL are now cleared for the transport of hogs and pork products.

Additionally, monitoring continues in barangays Macambol, Danao, and Buso, while no reports of new swine mortalities have been received from barangays Cabuaya, Central, Dahican, DSL, Lanca, Luban, Mamali, Matiao, Mayo, Sainz, Sanghay, Tagabakid, Tagbinonga, and Bobon.

The City Veterinary Office urges barangay officials to remain vigilant and impose immediate movement restrictions if there are new cases of swine deaths, to prevent the spread of the disease. 

The ASF Task Force and other local agencies remain committed to supporting efforts to mitigate the impact of ASF on the city's hog-raising sector.
