EastMinCom’s 4th ID recovers firearms, personal belongings following an encounter in Surigao del Sur

Acting on a tip-off from concerned citizens that the area was identified as a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) transit point and staging ground, the 3rd Special Forces Battalion of 4th ID in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of Agusan del Norte, launched a joint operation which led to the recovery of two 5.56mm M16 rifles, an M203 grenade launcher,  commercial radio, ten long magazines, a short magazine, four bandoliers, three  backpacks, and assorted personal belongings abandoned by fleeing CTG members.

The recovered items were immediately turned over to the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of Agusan del Norte for documentation and further investigation.

LtGen. Luis Rex D. Bergante, EastMinCom Commander praised the unwavering commitment of the troops in their ongoing efforts to dismantle the remaining CTGs. 

He also commended the vital cooperation of concerned civilians and the prompt, decisive action of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Diamond troops, which led to the successful operations. 

 Bergante expressed optimism that the recent neutralization of key CTG leaders will further deepen the demoralization within their ranks across the EastMinCom joint operational area.
