Pasidungog is a way of showing the city’s gratitude for all the things that the stakeholders have contributed and make an impact throughout the city.
Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte, in his speech commended the awardees recognized for their valuable contribution to the city in various fields.
"It is really very good to see the Dabawenyos here that truly embrace their roles and responsibilities as citizens as contributing citizens of the city. So from really top one sa taxpayers who are very rich and have resources to share, the people of Davao who are less fortunate, to those people who are so rich but in their own way can share something. So this what makes Davao City truly unique," Duterte said.
The city awarded Top 10 Taxpayers; Top 10 Real Property Taxpayers ; 18 awardees for Business Development, four awardees for Cooperative Development, 22 awardees for Economic Development, two awardees for Public Safety, Disaster, and Crisis Response; 23 awardees for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, and one awardee for Everyday Dabawenyo Hero.
Other awardees include five for Social Services, five for Urban/ Rural Infrastructure, Housing and Settlement, four awardees for Health, three for Animal Health, Welfare, and Productivity, twelve awardees for Education, three for Sports Development, eight for Tourism, and ten for the Arts.
Jonas C. Lamberte, HR Head of Arkcons A.P.O Philippines Corp. said that they are very honored to be recognized during the Pasidungog under the Economic Development for the partnership with Public Employment Service Office in the placement and hiring of many workers from Davao.
"Actually this is our first time to be awarded sa economic development and it is very overwhelming on our part because we are chosen to be an awardee and at the same time it is great also to see other companies and private sector that were given awards in different areas,” Lamborte said in a report from the City Information Office.
He said they are privileged that they are from Davao and have given this opportunity.
Gracie Plata, Public Relations Officer of Guide Davao- a group of accredited tour guides also said that they are happy to be recognized during the event for their contribution to the Tourism sector.
"We are super thankful and super proud and honored to be recognized as one of those who contributed to the progress of Davao City. We love our job. We love showing people around. We love to make people know why Davao is such a good place to live in. So thank you kaayo City Government of Davao for this recognition," Plata said.
Jay Crebillo, Adviser of Mindanao Alliance Mountaineering Club 1998 INC. who attended the event, said that they were elated and honored that the City recognized their efforts as responders during calamities as they were cited in helping in the progress of Davao in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
Joan M. Curbo, President of San Juan Homeowner's Association Inc., said that they are also grateful for the citation under the Urban/ Rural Infrastructure, Housing, and Settlement for being cooperative with the programs of the city, especially in the housing sector.
